Water Governance for Climate Resilience
Minerva Wise Water Development advises local water and climate adaptation initiatives and promotes knowledge exchange between different types of stakeholders to enable them to acquire greater collective wisdom on water.
Minerva is goddess of wisdom in Roman Mythology. We believe water wisdom is key to addressing climate climate related water security risks and building resilience. Hence the name Minerva Wise Water Development. Water and climate wisdom implies respect for local language, culture, and water heritage. More broadly speaking, this is a matter of applying principles of good water governance.
Disasters caused by extreme weather events point at the need for multiple local initiatives to manage risks and build resilience. But success is less likely when stakeholders lack understanding of complex issues and concepts of land and water management in relation to climate change.
This can result in wrong investment choices, failing infrastructure and missed opportunities.
Greater water wisdom must be acquired for water and climate initiatives to become more successful. Minerva Wise Water Development was founded in October 2019. Its objective is to help build capacity among local water and climate initiatives by facilitating access to knowledge and services. Our approach is to support such initiatives to enable them to acquire greater collective wisdom on water as a key factor for success and sustainability.
